Lumps, lesions, bumps, and growths are normal parts of skin's life cycle. Some people may be more prone to them than others. Although benign skin conditions may present in a variety of ways, common growths include:   Moles: Although many moles are benign or non cancerous, you may decide to have one removed if it's aesthetically displeasing, located in an irritating position or has the potential to become malignant in the future.   Skin tags: These tiny, flesh-colored "stalks" of skin often occur in areas of the body that rub together, such as under the arms, the neck, or between the legs. Although benign, they can cause irritation.   Seborrheic keratoses: These dark growths are often confused with moles, but present with a warty or "pasted on" appearance. They can occur anywhere on the body.   Cysts:  These can be lumpy and are often irritating and infected from time to time.  They can be skillfully removed so that they do not recur again.
